Field Day!

Sam's school does field day really well.  Instead of the competition events we had as a kid the classes just move around to different stations and play games, have relay races, get faces painted, hair painted, etc.  I like it because all the kids are involved in every event.  It is Sam's favorite day of the year and parents and siblings are welcome to join in the fun. I usually help out in some way and this year I took the job of walking around with Sam's class and assisting his teacher.  Not too much work just running a few kids to the nurse, making sure no one is left behind, etc.
Ella in the Blackhawk Helicopter that came to visit.  Watching this thing land was amazing and the amount of grass it sent flying was crazy!

Had to include this one.  How much longer is he going to snuggle his sister in front of his friends?  I was amazed he still was.

Tricycle relay!

Sam really enjoyed all the activities and hanging out with his friends.  Ella loved the bouncy house and face painting and I enjoyed seeing my kids have fun and visiting with some of the other moms that I probably won't see again.  It was a great day.

No More Preschool

day at DLC
End of the year picnic

While I can hardly believe it, it has happened.  Ella is finished with preschool.  It seems like she just started.  My kids just keep getting older and the time goes so quickly.  She had a great year and is more than prepared to start kindergarten.  Her teacher said, "She has it all;  she is coordinated, smart, friendly."  She really enjoyed her year and made some great friends she will miss but it is on to new things and I know she will continue to succeed.

Mr. and Mrs. Mata

While John unfortunately had to work last weekend the rest of the family was able to attend the wedding of Bobby and Derica.  They are family friends and their ceremony was absolutely beautiful.  I love weddings and I was so happy to be able to see Bobby and Derica on their special day. Sam was so excited, he thinks Bobby is just the greatest.  He even helped pick out part of the wedding gift.; a five gallon bucket for Bobby to blow up on the Fourth of July.  The reception was fun too.  It was nice to catch up with a lot of family and watch all the kids have a blast on the dance floor.

Confirmation Day

Two of my amazing nieces were confirmed last Sunday.  They have become full members of the Lutheran church.  I couldn't be more proud of the wonderful women they are becoming.  They each had to give a talk about the role of God in their lives in front of the whole congregation.  We were honored to be there to watch them.

Afterwards we had a reception in the parish hall with the other families.  It was a nice time to catch up and then we headed to Orange Leaf to celebrate Ellie's birthday.  A full day of family celebrations.

New Car

Those few of you who actually read this blog might have seen the post the other day where I joked about getting a corvette.  Obviously, I could never drive a car without a back seat and lots of storage.  When looking for a new car I need lots of space for all the kids sporting equipment, school stuff, groceries, etc.  That is why John and I decided to get this...

Should have plenty of space right?  Just kidding again.  I don't even like to drive John's truck because I feel like it is too big.  This actually belongs to a different neighbor.  He is an internet cars salesman.  Sometimes he buys vehicles to fix up and keep for a while for fun.  This is the one he has now.  He saw us looking at it the other night and offered the kids a ride.  Sam was anxiously awaiting his phone call that it was time to go.  They had a good time and felt pretty cool riding around in this... (not even sure what you call it).

Field Trip and Grandma and Grandpa

Last week Sam's class took a field trip to the Titanic Museum in Branson.  My mom and dad came down and watched Ella so I could spend the time with Sam.  It was a nice trip and the museum was very interesting.  I think I will have to go back sometime when there aren't seventy-five third graders running around so I can soak in more information.  The kids all had a good time and learned something too.

Ella and Sam were very glad to have Grandma and Grandpa here also.  They were able to go to one of Ella's soccer games and go with us to dinner at Lambert's.  They had never experienced Lambert's and the kids wanted to make sure they went before our move.  It was a nice few days with them and as a bonus they cleaned my garage for me while I was working at Sam's school!

Corvette!

So, what do you all think of my new car?  Just kidding, don't think the corvette is the practical car for a mom but I guess it's not really practical for anyone is it?  This car belongs to our neighbors Mr. Johnnie and Miss Arlene.  Let me tell you a little about them so you can appreciate the fact that they own this beauty.  Mr. Johnnie and Miss Arlene are in their late seventies.  Both are retired, love to work in their yard, visit with the neighbors and apparently drive fast sports cars.
They decided the other day to take the top off for the first time and offered Sam a ride.  He was absolutely thrilled.  When asked by John later what he thought of the ride his response was, "That is the car I want you to get me when I turn sixteen."
Um NO!  I don't even want to think about the insurance premium on that.  John's response, "Maybe you can have the truck I'm driving now."  Sam wasn't too thrilled about that one.
