Volley Zou

In a few weeks Sam is going to start volleyball clinics with the girls that play at Mizzou.  They invited all the kids that signed up for clinics to their match this last Saturday and gave them a link to print free tickets for themselves and their family.  Since there was not a home football game last weekend we decided to cheer for another Tiger sport.  The kids and I had never been to a Mizzou volleyball match and John hadn't been since his college days.
The matches are not that well attended so you get to sit close to the court and see all the action.  Sam even got a t-shirt that was thrown into the crowd.  We had a fun time cheering on our team and watching them beat SEMO in straight sets.  Mizzou is supposed to be good this year and are off to a 15-0 start.  I think we all decided that was an activity we would like to do again in the near future.

Future Bruin Girl

Last Saturday Ella did a dance clinic with the dance team at our local high school.  She absolutely loved it!  She was fascinated by their dancing, sparkly uniforms, you name it.  She asked in the car on the way home if we could please not move again because she wants to be a Bruin Girl when she gets to high school.  They put on a little show for the parents at the end of the clinic and she was front row and ready to go.
Dancing away!  I hope you can see this photo.

Waiting for the music to begin

A Child of God

Last Sunday we got to be present for Cameron's baptism.  I love baptisms!  I know most people say they love and cry at weddings.  I love weddings too but there is just something about baptisms that bring tears to my eyes.  Thinking about how much God loves us and loves Cameron is awesome to me!   It was a nice time with family gathered around to witness this special occasion.  After the ceremony most of us were able to head over to Christy and Dale's house to spend time together and enjoy a delicious meal.  What a wonderful day.

Most of my picture in the church did not turn out very well but here are a few of my favorites from the day.

Action shot, not one little tear from Cameron.

I love all the kids up front watching.

He kept leaning back so he could see John's face.

All smiles while eating her cookie.

I just couldn't resist not adding this cutie to the post.

Another Scorcher!

Well, our second Mizzou game wasn't any cooler than the first.  It was going to be so hot we decided to skip the tailgating in favor of a little more time in the air conditioner.  It was an afternoon game so we got to enjoy the game during the warmest time of the day.  We still had fun though and our Tigers got another victory!
A few pictures before heading into the stadium.

Sweaty but still smiling!

Safety Patrol

The fifth graders at Sam's school get to apply for a position on Safety Patrol.  If they are chosen their responsibilities are standing in the hallway to help visitors, reminding kids not to run in the halls, helping younger students exit cars and buses and putting up and taking down the flag.
Sam was so excited that he got chosen for numerous shifts and he volunteered to do the flag four mornings a week.  While that means days I am not working we have to get to school a little early it is worth it to see him so excited!  He loves helping out and having special responsibilities.  I was able to capture some moments from his first day.

Getting ready to fly the flags!

A Hot Start to the Season!

Saturday was definitely the hottest Mizzou football game I have attended.  The sign pulling in the the parking lot said it was a cool 98 degrees outside.  When you looked at the heat index we were well into the hundreds and tailgating on our new asphalt mostly parking lot was HOT!  We tried not to venture out from under the tents.  Only the kids were brave enough to be out in the sun with no breeze.  At least the company and the fried chicken were good.
We were definitely all sweaty by the time we headed into the game and a crowded Memorial Stadium was not any cooler.  The crowd was a bit subdued with the heat and so was the Tigers defense to start the game.  Luckily, the offense was ready to play and by the second half the defense stepped it up and we came away with a big victory!  It was a fun time but I am definitely ready for more football type weather.
