Ella's schedule has been off the last few days with Sam at home because of the sleet and then snow. Two days ago she refused to go down for a nap but was sooo tired. When she finally sat still at dinner she fell asleep. Sam used to do this quite a bit at dinnertime and I never got him on camera. So, I was determined to get Ella. Don't worry, I got her out of her highchair and put her into bed as soon as I was done filming.

Peaches
Sam came home from school today having learned about Martin Luther King Jr. He told me his teacher, Mrs. Parrott, had talked to them about why we celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day. In his words, "he was important for giving speeches so everyone could do the same thing. Because a long time ago their were signs that said places were not for people with brown skin but only for the peaches." I thought that story was priceless.
I'm also so glad that my son is growing up in a time where Martin Luther King Jr.'s ideals are reaching reality. Sam doesn't see the color of someones skin making any more difference than the color of their hair or the color of shirt they choose to wear that day. If only everyone felt that way.

Slideshow
I had the kids' pictures taken by Rebecca Peters. She is a professional photographer in Kansas City. She took the pictures for my cousin's wedding and did an amazing job! Sam loved her so I thought I would have her do my kids. She is a lot of fun and Sam once again had a great time. Ella was not a fan of the camera but Rebecca still got some great shots. The link will take you to a slideshow that Rebecca did from the shoot. http://www.rpetersphotography.com/slideshow/SamElla/

Grandma's Birthday Weekend
Girly Girl!
Just wondering how I got such a girly girl? Now I'm not a tomboy or anything but I'm not what anyone would call a girly girl either. Ella loves everything girl. She only plays with babies, her kitchen, purses, toy jewelry, etc. She wants nothing to do with Sam's old cars, trains, trucks, or anything that is boyish.
This picture captures her well. She has her Dora purse, a necklace on, and her favorite gold sparkly shoes. I think she would wear these shoes every day. One of the only things she is missing is a hairbow which she is rarely without. When she realizes she doesn't have one in she starts asking, "bow? bow?" As in, "Why don't I have a bow in my hair?" Just wait until she hits her teenage years!
